this funky guitar riff is probably my favorite thing i've ever written! one of my favorite current artists is tom misch and i wanted to write something as funky as his song "disco yes". the original version of this song was an instrumental that i submitted to uc ccm for their online auditions. after i made it through that round, i wrote the lyrics and changed the chorus and bridge sections to what you hear in this version to perform during my in-person audition. it served the purpose of getting me into a highly renowned music program but i'm still not satisfied with it. i intend to rewrite the lyrics for the verses and change the bass and synth parts. this version is dear to me though and is the most recent take i've mixed so i thought it would be a good song to upload to the site! oh, and the le "shiny spheres" originally referred to disco . after i recorded the instrumental version i needed to give it a name quickly because i was already past the submission deadline. so i went with the first funky that came to mind! i liked the spur-of-the-moment le i had come up with so when it came time to write lyrics i based them around that. now "shiny spheres" refers to disco , eye, and stars. the message of the song is: if you have stars in your eyes and a dream in your heart, you can accomplish anything if you work hard!
