i walk past you in
the hall every day.
nine years and i
still don’t know your name.
feet echoing and sometimes
dragging at the end of the day
in the hallway.
we’ll exchange
smiles sometimes
other times we’ll just
stare straight ahead
i don’t wan to know
what’s happening in your life
i’ve got enough going on in mine
i don’t know what
thoughts are in your brain
are you only happy
when it rains
we’re a world unto ourselves
and it’s not polite to stare
sometimes i do
and others time i don’t
