Description
Standing up here I could swear I could feel the Earth turning
Like forces at work in the rocks beneath my feet
And the sun resting on the horizon sets the sea burning
While the breeze whispers of the night to come, and the old day in retreat.
Standing up here I could swear I could hear the stars falling
With nothing to catch them wherever they might land.
But the spaces between are so very small, like the gaps between grains of sand.
I can taste the quiet of the coming of the night,
At the still point of the turning world - the movement of silence and light.
So far away but I swear I can see the hills waiting
To begin their long journey to the oceans or the skies,
While the Old Man stirs in his dreams of sleep, and the turning centuries fly.
Standing up here I could swear I could feel the Earth turning....
