rest and recreation are what i seek, my spirits to restore
let’s take our next vacation, all two weeks, on a south pacific tour
rather than go shopping at the mall, we’re take our hard earned pay
and do some island hopping aft - er all, it’s a small world so they say

i’ll sip martinis on bikini
hug my sweetie on tahiti
stay an hour on tarawa
fly to old brunei
share a snack on sarawak
then feast some more on east timor
we’ll linger longer out on tonga
take another look at cook

if it’s barren on pitcairn
and so hot you hate sumatra
feel the breeze stir out on easter
take a nap on yap
if the marshalls you’re not partial
indonesia’s sure to please ya
we’ll look for lava east of java
take a little break on wake

oh those swaying palms, it’s nice and warm
when you’re in my arms, we can weather any tropical storm

3) if australia seems to fail ya
then tasmania’ll entertain ya
singapore we’ll swing as
cruise on to old luzon
if malaysia don’t amaze ya
to caledonia i’ll chaperone ya
we’ll have chow on mindanao
lie ‘neath a shady palm on guam

now our trip is over, what fun we’ve had
what wondrous sights we’ve seen
our ragged nerves have mended, we’re now prepared
to resume our old routine
