"lost in london, nowhere to go, empty pockets and empty souls..."

my dear old friend and fellow collaborator iain payne (see “queen of the night” by quiet earth) and i first conceived this project some years ago. it's the tale of a songwriter from up north who travels down to london to make his fortune ~ of course, it all goes horribly wrong! i took our original idea and fleshed out a storyline that would initially take place over 2 cds. i wrote & recorded all the backing tracks and started adding a narrative between the songs to help carry the story along. after an initial good start i then got completely stuck on the lyrics for several of the songs and decided to take a break and do something else rather than abandon the project. this was in 2018. i then started work on my “riding the ninth wave” cd, all the tracks from which can be found uploaded to this site. i finished “rtnw” last year (2019) then thought it was time to get back to “lost in london”. chapter 1 (i decided to think of it as a kind of musical novel) features an opening narrative to set the scene then it's into the music and the songs. i'll be uploading further chapters as time goes by ~ hopefully dear listener you'll enjoy the story as it unfolds. much of what happens to the "hero" phil is taken from the stories surrounding other musicians. dw...
