Valley Of The Time Tombs by Kainan Shank from Cincinnati United States

for my in-person audition to the university of cincinnati's college-conservatory of music, i first pla shiny spheres, the second song i uploaded this month, and then this jazz-metal trip. the judges seemed to like shiny spheres just fine but when i performed this song they were blown away! they all commented on the blatant al di meola influence which was a great compliment considering al is among my all-time favorite guitarists and composers. i doubt i would have received a scholarship without this song! however, like with shiny spheres, i'm not satisfied with this version. i was rushing to get the song finished in time for the audition so this version was written and recorded in under a week. when i rewrite it i plan to cut out the iron maiden-esque ending and keep it more in line with the jazz-rock that i'm influenced by. also, since it's thematiy based on a sci-fantasy book series revolving around time travel, and the characters' descent into the valley of the time tombs sparks wild and hard to comprehend pilgrimages through time, i want to add some odd-time sections to better capture the feeling that the books give you. anyways, enjoy this current version - while it lasts!
