My radio alarm wakes me once more
With children dying in some foreign war -
Yeah, but Sunderland and Spurs both failed to score!
Cold sunlight streaming in, a pile of junk mail on the floor,
And so another day begins just like the one before
I'm taken by the swelling tide as I walk out the door.
Old Charlie selling 'papers lays his curse
On familiar strangers queuing for the bus
Driven by the coke-head bum in whom we trust
To guide is through the traffic jambs that mark the brand new day.
A busy schedule organised to justify my pay.
I'm busy going nowhere... so I must be on my way!
