the beat was the mood setter, we were sampling some beats, the first time i heard it, i already knew which song would best complement it. everybody be talking about their ride or die chick, but when it comes time to die, where is she. obviously i'm using die as a euphemism for "when it hits the fan" but the weight of the word is still there. in this sense though, i am talking about when my career takes off. i am humble, i have gone through some hard times to make me so, it is ok to know that you are good, as long as you don't let it go to your head, i keep the story of icarus fresh in my mind as a cautionary tale. at the same time it is ok to say the quality of today's music has decreased, and to know the standard i hold myself won't ever let me produce low quality music. this song goes back and forth between what i think it will be like when i make it and where i'm at now, and the hard work that is necessary to get me there.
