Stampede

I stand up
And read the map to Nowhere Land
So many paths
Not sure which one I ought to take

I see them come
The crowd pushes me off the road, yeah
I slow it down
Oh no! Don’t want to break the flow

So I start moving forward
They must be going somewhere I want to go
So I throw out the map and
Let myself get carried away…

Who wants to swim against the tide?
If struggling really sucks me dry
If it’s safer not to wake up and feel
I’m at the wrong end of the stampede

And then it dawns on me
All the mist starts to disappear
There is a good reason for all this
So I jump off the bridge not to be
Stepped over by the wild stampede

Once we arrive
The mob sits back to just unwind mmm
I look around
And I’m clueless about where we’ve come, yeah-eh-yeah

Wanna go back
So I manage to nudge my way out (out out out my way outside)
But things have turned
And narrow is the way back home, yeah-yeah

I leave the herd behind me
I need no shepherds where I want to go
There are no maps to guide me
On this journey all alone…
