Joni Margaux: Everybody Wants to Drink the Wine features our funky horns and a guitar solo from Randell which builds into a two-part guitar harmony reminiscent of what Dickie Betts and Duane Allman did with The Allman Brothers, climaxed by a double-time section, an arrangement device borrowed from Lucky Dube.

Lyriy, Everybody Wants to Drink the Wine is as homage to The Parable of the Talents. Randell says he was watching a TCM presentation of the 1998 John Frankenheimer film Ronin and was struck by a line from Sam, the American mercenary pla by Robert De Niro, “Everybody wants to go to the party. Nobody wants to stay and clean up.” He connected that with Matthew 25:29 (“For unto everyone that hath shall be given and he shall have abundance but from him that hath not shall be taken away even that which he hath”) and the tune just flowed out from there.
