i have several peter gabriel live dvds on one of them he discusses the writing and recording of the song “sky blue”. he says that “some songs just drop out of the sky and fall in your lap ~ this isn't one of them, this song took years to write.” i feel the same with this track, i finished the basic backing track way back in 2016/17 and then promptly got stuck. it wasn't till i rediscovered it earlier this year that i made a concerted effort to finish it. the hard part was the lyrics the writing of which felt like banging your head against a brick wall. i kept coming up with snippets then nothing for weeks on end... dw
