P!nk Releases Music Video for “Wild Hearts Can’t Be Broken”

P!nk is known for lots of color, stunning dance numbers that include herself doing acrobatics, and overall a bad*ss girl power attitude. But with her newest video for “Wild Hearts Can’t Be Broken” off of her album Beautiful Trauma, she took things to the next level.

Directed by Sasha Samsonova, P!nk calmed things down with a simple black and white music video featuring her daughter Willow, emphasizing the message she’s trying to portray as she’s singing.

“What’s the message?”,  you may be wondering. Equality and empowerment for woman and children. So to celebrate the music video for “Wild Hearts Can’t Be Broken”, P!nk is encouraging people to support UNICEF’s global mission by making a donation, because she believes that all children should be able to grow up strong and healthy, with the opportunity to reach their full potential.

P!nk shared saying, “As a UNICEF Ambassador, I am proud to work with an organization that supports and empowers women and children around the world. In honor of this incredible organization, in honor of this video for “Wild Hearts” and in honor of girls and woman all over the world standing up for themselves, I am going to be making a donation in all of your names to this wonderful organization and I encourage you to do the same if the spirit moves you.”

Her message could not have a better timing. After just one out of the nine main prizes were won by a woman at the Grammys, Recording Academy president, Neil Portnow, shared something that P!nk didn’t take so well.

He said, “I think it has to begin with women who have the creativity in their hearts and their souls — who want to be musicians, who want to be engineers, who want to be producers, who want to be part of the industry on an executive level — to step up, because I think they would be welcome.”

P!nk, along with many other female artists responded back to this statement. But P!nk handwrote a letter to Neil and posted it to Twitter.

The letter said, “Women in music don’t need to ‘step up’ — women have been stepping since the beginning of time. Stepping up, and also stepping aside. Women OWNED music this year. They’ve been KILLING IT. And every year before this. When we celebrate and honor the talent and accomplishments of women, and how much women STEP UP every year, and how much women STEP UP every year, against all odds, we show the next generation of women and girls and boys and men what it means to be equal, and what it looks like to be fair.”

And she honestly couldn’t have said it any better.
