Fall Out Boy is having a wonderful year despite their record, M A N I A, coming out a bit later than it should have. With the album originally set out to be released in September of 2017, the album came out January 19th of 2018 so that way the band can perfect it.
Looks like it was worth it though. M A N I A (released via Island Records) became the band’s fourth number one album on the Billboard 200 chart out of the seven full-length albums that they’ve released.
Listening to the singles that the band released little by little, we could already tell the album was a hit. The first track they released was “Young And Menace” back in April of 2017. This was the first new song fans heard of the band since they’re hiatus, and it was quite different from their past music. But we’re loving the new sound!
“Champion” was the second song released back in June of 2017. Serious about their visuals, they then released an official video for it in July that same year.
The third track Fall Out Boy released was “The Last Of The Real Ones”. This song came with a pretty simple video. But still strangely interesting as the llama mascots of M A N I A stand in front of the screen up to no good. There’s a warning for this video, since the ending can be graphic in nature for some.
The fourth track they released was “HOLD ME TIGHT OR DON’T” in November of 2017, followed by “Wilson (Expensive Mistakes)” and “Church” released this month.
Fall Out Boy clearly loves making music videos for their songs. But that’s one of the things we love about them! They provide their fans a fun visual to go along with the lyrical content given. For their album, Save Rock and Roll, the band made a music video every song on the album. But they weren’t just random videos, they all went with one another. If you watched all the videos together in order, it made a full story! So basically it was like watching a short film.
The videos for M A N I A, don’t necessarily make a full story like Save Rock and Roll so far, but they’re four videos away from making a video for every track on the album!
The band’s previous albums to reach number one on the Billboard 200 chart was American Beauty/American Psycho (2015), Save Rock and Roll (2013), and Infinity on High (2007). So clearly, the band has been on a roll lately!
Sadly the albums that didn’t make it to number one was Folie a Deux (2009), From Under the Cork Tree (2005), and Take This to Your Grave (2004). Folie a Deux reached number eight on the Billboard 200 chart, From Under the Cork Tree reached number nine, while Take This to Your Grave didn’t even make the Billboard 200. But it did reach number 17 on the Independent Albums chart.
